Why We're Here...

My husband David and I delivered a stillborn Baby Boy that we loved, and wanted. Our first and only son, Logan, had Down Syndrome. Our daughter's smile is a little light in the darkness. She turned one year old three days after our sweet Logan tip-toed away on January 24, 2009. After 2 1/2 years we found out we were having another baby, whom we affectionatly called Rudy. Just shy of 6 weeks we found out Rudy was Ectopic. Rudy was surgically removed on May 26, 2011 delivering another blow to our already broken hearts.

Logan's Pictures

The 2 photo's that I had retouched by http://www.babyangelpics.com/ were finished today.  All I can do is stare.  There's my baby.  There's my son the way he was meant to look, and not forced to look like unnaturally due to death and early birth.  Gone are the stupid fake flowers covering up half of his face.  Gone is the reddness, the peeling skin, the shinny spots.  Gone.  And left behind is my perfect angel faced baby boy.  I'm speechless.  I'm awed.  I now have a picture that I can print, scrapbook, show off with out the fear of people freaking out.  Pictures that I can look at and see my son for who he was before he died.  I'm thrilled with the results.  I'm not ready to share the photo's just yet though.  I still feel so violently over protective of his memory, perhaps hoarding what little bit of him belongs to me.  But I wanted to tell you all how pleased I am, and how highly I recommend this free service.  Such a thoughtful and wonderful service to offer parents of stillborn children.  That is there catch though.  I do believe that they require the children to have been stillborn.

I have noticed that people have mixed reactions with babyangelpics. I had mine done and I didn't really like them. They made my daughter look like an old lady. I have seen others though, where they really did a good job (some of those I saw the original photo). So I guess, it depends on who does your photos, or how good quality the photos were in the first place. Which is where I had a problem, my original photos were awful, blurry, etc.

I'm glad though, that you have photos that will make you comfortable to scrap and put up in frames around your home.

I know it's not the same but...I know that every little thing matters when it comes to our babies and while this may seem like a little thing ... it's really a BIG THING for bereaved parents.

You know, I have noticed a few small things. Like the left hand is odd. I can't quite place it, but there's something off about it. The retouch is very "hazy" almost like it was shot through a very soft focus lense. BUT, compared to the originals (the fake flowers being a HUGE issue for me) where his face was a little gruesome from the peeling skin and the severe reddening and the shinny patches, it retouch is an enormous improvement. But no, I have to agree, it isn't perfect. I did start with a high quality file to start though. So, that might have helped.

I'm so glad that you're pleased with the results. It must be such a comfort because, as Ter said, it means so much to us babylost parents to have these photographs. I carry our son's photo with me everywhere. And to be able to share the photographs with others freely is such a gift. (((Hugs)))

I'm glad that you like your pictures. It IS the only thing we have to share. It's awful that we won't have any others.
