Why We're Here...

My husband David and I delivered a stillborn Baby Boy that we loved, and wanted. Our first and only son, Logan, had Down Syndrome. Our daughter's smile is a little light in the darkness. She turned one year old three days after our sweet Logan tip-toed away on January 24, 2009. After 2 1/2 years we found out we were having another baby, whom we affectionatly called Rudy. Just shy of 6 weeks we found out Rudy was Ectopic. Rudy was surgically removed on May 26, 2011 delivering another blow to our already broken hearts.

A Man in Grief

It must be very difficult to be a man in grief,
Since "men don't cry" and "men are strong" no tears can bring relief.
It must be very difficult to stand up to the test
And field calls and visitors so she can get some rest.
They always ask if she's all right And what she's going through,
But seldom take his hand and ask, "My friend, but how are you?"
He hears her crying in the night And thinks his heart will break.
He dries her tears and comforts her, But "stays strong" for her sake.
It must be very difficult To start each day anew
And try to be so very brave-- He lost his baby too.

Double Blessings said...

I swear this poem is speaking about my husband. Through our loss, he was so strong. In my angry sort of way, I felt that he wasn't grieving enough. But in my heart, I knew that he was grieving in his own way. He had to be strong for the sake of me and our daughter.
